Enrichment

Play with purpose.

Some dogs need more than play. Purposeful enrichment, built into every daycare day, plus one-on-one sessions when they need focused attention.

Our philosophy

Enrichment isn’t about keeping dogs busy.

It’s about giving them something worth their attention.

The right activity at the right moment builds confidence, takes the edge off a stressful day, and leaves a dog actually settled, not just worn out.

Some dogs thrive on challenge. Others do best with quiet, scent-based engagement. Either way, the goal is the same: play that does something, not just play that fills time.

Not sure what your dog needs? We do this every day. We’ll guide the plan based on your dog’s personality, energy, and comfort.

What’s available

Standard enrichment activities.

Available year-round, all part of how we think about play.

Nature Walk

When your dog has a nature walk booked, they explore our private, exclusive-use wooded trails, leashed with a handler. As far as we know, we're the only facility in Dane County offering this. New scents, new sights, space to move at their own pace. Off the play yard, away from the group.

Foraging Fun

Dogs tap into their natural instincts to dig and sniff while searching for hidden treats in sand and leaves. Mental stimulation, problem-solving, and plenty of tail wags.

Snuffle Mats

Hidden treats woven through a textured mat. Dogs use their strongest sense to hunt, satisfying foraging instincts while keeping their minds busy. Calming and confidence-building.

Canine Cabana

A room full of new scents, textures, toys, and treats to dig through. Smell, sight, and touch, all in one quiet room. Curious dogs love it.

This month

Something new every month.

Themed enrichment activities that rotate with the seasons.

Each month brings a new rotating set of themed activities alongside the standard daily options, so the regulars get variety instead of the same snuffle mat every week.

Themes change with the seasons. Winter brings snow sniffing and frozen treats. Spring brings sensory bins and outdoor exploration. Summer brings water enrichment. Fall brings scent trails through leaves.

Regulars rarely get the same enrichment day twice.

The short version

Family-owned. Purpose-built.

Who we are

We’re Mary and Ray, and we started this because we needed better care for our own two dogs, Breck and Gil. Ten years later, our own dogs still come here, and so does the rest of the family, hands-on, every day.

Common questions

Enrichment, answered.

What's the difference between enrichment and daycare?

Daycare is group play with other dogs, all about social fun. Enrichment is focused mental and sensory activity, sometimes in a group, sometimes one-on-one. Every daycare day already includes group enrichment as part of the experience at no extra cost. One-on-one sessions are an optional add-on for dogs who want or need more.

Will my dog enjoy enrichment if they love daycare?

Most do. Active dogs often discover they enjoy the mental work even more than physical play. Enrichment gives them new challenges and builds confidence beyond what group play alone can do.

Is my dog supervised the whole time?

Yes. One-on-one sessions are one dog and one staff member, the entire session. Nature walks are done on a leash with a handler, not off-leash, even on our own trails. Group enrichment happens inside the regular daycare group, under the same supervision as the rest of the day.

How do I know what kind of enrichment my dog will like?

Honestly, our staff figures it out pretty quickly. They get to know what each dog responds to, and if a dog isn't into one activity, they swap to another at no extra charge. Most dogs find at least one or two things they genuinely love.

Can senior dogs do enrichment?

Yes. Senior-focused enrichment is gentler. Shorter walks, scent work over physical activity, more rest periods. We adjust to what your dog can do comfortably.

Can my dog refuse to participate? What happens then?

Yes, and that's fine. We don't force participation. If a dog isn't feeling a particular activity, we switch to something else or give them quiet time instead. The goal is a positive experience, not a completed checklist.

How do I add enrichment to my booking?

Add it directly in Gingr when you book, or let us know at drop-off, or send us a message. Easy either way.
